Use the shared desk tablet

The desk tablet is shared by everyone on shift. Each person signs in as themselves, so every check-in and wristband change is recorded with the right name. Signing in takes a tap and a PIN.

Open Front desk on the tablet. You’ll see Tap your name, with a Recent row of people who signed in here lately and then everyone, A to Z. With a long list, use Find your name.

Tap your name, type your PIN and tap OK. The bar at the top now reads Front desk · your name.

If your tile says Set up your PIN:

  1. Step 1 of 2: sign in. Type your password (and your two-step code, if your account has one). This is only once, to make sure it’s you.
  2. Step 2 of 2: choose a PIN. Six to eight numbers you’ll remember. Easy-to-guess PINs such as 123456 or 111111 aren’t accepted, and neither is your password.
  3. Type it again to confirm.

“PIN saved. Next time, tap your name and type it.” We also email you to say your PIN was set.

Your PIN is yours. Nobody else, including your manager, chooses it or can see it.

The tablet locks itself so nobody else can act as you:

  • After a short time without a touch (90 seconds unless your venue chose otherwise), you’ll see “Still [name]? Locking in 20 seconds.” Touch anywhere, or tap Yes, I’m here, to keep going. Signing a waiver on screen counts as a touch.
  • When the screen turns off or the tablet switches to another app.
  • When you tap Next guest after finishing a booking.
  • When you tap Lock (you’re stepping away) or Switch person (someone else is taking over).

Locking returns to the names. Whatever you were doing stays on the booking platform; nothing is lost.

If the tablet locked while someone was helping a guest, the next person to sign in sees “Someone was helping a guest when this tablet locked.”

  • Carry on with that booking opens the same guest.
  • Start fresh goes to today’s list.

Anyone on the team can take over the tablet at any time: tapping your name ends the previous person’s sign-in.

From there, finding bookings, checking guests in and linking wristbands work exactly as on a phone (see Check guests in from your own phone). Holding a wristband to the back of an Android tablet links it.

You see What to do
“Wrong PIN.” (with tries left after the third) Try again carefully.
“Too many wrong tries. Try again at 2:45 PM, or ask a manager.” Wait until then, or ask a manager to let you try again. Your tile shows Locked until the same time. We email you when this happens.
“PIN sign-in is paused until… Nothing is broken.” Too many wrong PINs were typed on this tablet. You can still sign in with your password, or a manager can unpause it.
You’ve forgotten your PIN Tap Forgot your PIN? Choose a new one: type a new PIN twice, then your password to save it. Or tap Use my password this time to sign in once without changing it.
“Your account isn’t set up for check-in here.” Ask a manager to add you to the front desk team.

The tablet is also the venue’s till. Till, at the top of the names screen, switches to it. Signing in at the front desk doesn’t change anything on the till.
